Destinations Covered: Delhi–Katmandu-Varanasi-Khajuraho-Jhansi-Agra-Jaipur-Delhi.
DAY 01: Delhi
The Essence of India & Nepal Tour starts at Delhi, the capital city of India. On arrival, you will be received by our representative and transferred to a hotel for the overnight stay.
DAY 02: Delhi
The second day of the Essence of India & Nepal Tour takes you on a sight seeing trip of Delhi. You will visit the famous historical sites of Delhi like the Qutub Minar – the tallest stone minaret in the world, Humayun’s tomb – the 1st Mughal construction in India, the Rashtrapati Bhawan or the official residence of the President of India, the India Gate – a war memorial, the Red Fort made of red sandstone, the Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India, Birla Mandir a Hindu temple, Rajghat – the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and the Chandni Chowk- a busy market place. At night, we would return to the hotel for an overnight stay where an Indian classical Dance Performance is followed by Thali dinner that is specially arranged for you at the Haveli restaurant at the Taj Mahal hotel.
DAY 03: Delhi –Katmandu
In the morning, the representatives of the Essence of India & Nepal Tour take you to the airport to board a flight to Katmandu. Here, the day is spent at leisure before retiring for the night at the hotel.
Day 4: Katmandu
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will take a sightseeing tour of the capital city of Nepal. Firstly we visit the huge 2000 year old stupa at Swayambhunath set on a hill overlooking the valley. After that, we drive down to the central Durbar Square to see the palaces and pagodas which are fine examples of true Nepalese architecture and visit the Ason Tole, that’s the market place.
In the afternoon after lunch, the Essence of India & Nepal Tour makes excursion to Bodhnath-which has one of the biggest stupas in the world, Bhagaon- which is the city of devotees founded by King Ananada Deva in 889 AD and Pashupatinath which houses a pagoda style temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River.
Day 5: Katmandu – Varanasi
In the morning, we visit Patan which is also known as the city of grace and fine arts. Here we would visit the Tibetan Refugee Craft Center and observe the beautiful pieces of art and architecture. In the afternoon we would leave for the airport to board a flight to Varanasi.
Day 6: Varanasi - Khajuraho
In Varanasi, early in the morning, the Essence of India & Nepal Tour would drive to the Daswamedh Ghat and take a boat ride on the holy Ganges River to see the bathing rituals and ablutions made by devotees at dawn. We can visit the Hindu temples and the Benaras Hindu University which are popular here. We can visit the bazaars and you could buy the Benares Silk materials which are popular here. In the evening we would be taking a flight to Khajuraho.
Day 7: Khajuraho-Jhansi-Agra
In Khajuraho, we would visit the famous Chandela Dynasty temples which are intricately carved and designed. Then we would visit Orchha where there are numerous shrines and memorials including the Jahangir Mahal, the Laxminarayan temple, Phool Bagh, Chaturbhuj temple, Raj Mahal and more. Later in the day we go to Jhansi Railway Station from where we board the train to Agra.
Day 8: Agra
In Agra, we cannot miss the Taj Mahal monument built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal . This magnificent monument is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The other places to visit are the Agra fort and Sikandara tomb of Emperor Akbar.
Day 9: Agra – Jaipur
We then visit the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan and on the way make a trip to Fatehpur Sikri which is a deserted red sandstone city built by Emperor Akbar as his capital and residence in the 16th century. We would also visit the Bulund Darwaza which is the largest gateway in the world. At night we return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 10: Jaipur
In Jaipur, we make an excursion to the Amber fort which can be visited on elephant back if you like. The other places to visit in this pink city of Rajasthan are the City Palace and its museum, the Hawa Mahal or the palace of winds and the Jantar Mantar or the observatory built in 1700.
Day 11: Jaipur – Delhi
In the afternoon, after lunch the Essence of India & Nepal Tour would be leaving for Delhi for you to catch the International flight back home.
