DAY 01: Delhi
The Ganges Religious Tour starts at Delhi, the capital city of India. On arrival, you will be received by our representative and transferred to a hotel for the overnight stay.
DAY 02: Delhi
The second day of the Ganges Religious Tour takes you on a sight seeing trip of Delhi. You will visit the famous historical sites of Delhi like the Qutub Minar – the tallest stone minaret in the world, Humayun’s tomb – the 1st Mughal construction in India, the Rashtrapati Bhawan or the official residence of the President of India, the India Gate – a war memorial, the Red Fort made of red sandstone, the Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India, Birla Mandir a Hindu temple, Rajghat – the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and the Chandni Chowk a busy market place. At night we would return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 03: Delhi – Jaipur
We would leave for Jaipur after breakfast. Jaipur -the pink city of Rajasthan derived its name after the red sandstone used in building the monuments here. At Jaipur we will make a trip to Jantar Mantar which is popular observatory built in 1727 by Sawai Maharaja Jai Singh II and is still functional. We can also visit the City Palace and observe the display of arms, ammunitions, paintings and robes used by the royal families who once lived here.
Day 4: Jaipur
After having breakfast at the hotel we will take an excursion to the Amber fort and visit the Sheesh Mahal, the hall of public audience and Maharaja Man Singh’s Palace and observe the various display of arms and ammunitions kept here. A ride on elephant back to the entrance of the fort is one of the highlights of this trip. At night we retire to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Jaipur - Agra
After breakfast at the hotel we proceed to Agra and visit Fatehpur Sikri on the way. In the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri one can visit the Jodhabai’s palace which is the biggest palace built here. In the evening we would relax for an overnight stay in Agra.
Day 6: Agra
In Agra the City of Taj we would visit the popular Taj Mahal monument in the morning after breakfast. This monument was built by the emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and is included in the Seven Wonders of the World. In Agra we would visit other places as well such as the Agra fort built by Emperor Akbar, the Sikandara tomb of Emperor Akbar and Itmad ud Daulah the first mughal building made out of marble. Overnight would be at a hotel in Agra.
Day 7: Agra - Khajuraho
After breakfast at Agra we would leave for the airport to take the flight to Khajuraho. We can spend the day relaxing at the hotel.
Day 8: Khajuraho
After having breakfast at the hotel, we visit the eastern and western group of temples in Khajuraho built by the Chandela dynasty in the 9th to 11th centuries. Only 20 temples out of the 85 temples built are intact today. A guided tour of these famous temples is arranged by the tour operators. Overnight would be at Khajuraho.
Day 9: Khajuraho – Varanasi
After breakfast we would leave for Varanasi where we can relax and spend time at the hotel.
Day 10: Varanasi
Early in the morning at about 5am the tour takes you to the banks of the river Ganges where we take a boat to see the morning ablutions of the Hindus in this sacred river which is known to purify the devotees of their sins. The boat ride starts from Dasashwamedh ghat and ends at Manikarnika ghat. On the way you can see the Kashi Vishwanath temple, the Gyanvyapi Kund and the mosque. We return to the hotel for breakfast and make a day tour to the Benaras Hindu University and the Bharat Mata Mandir which are also worth visiting in Varanasi. You can return to the hotel room and relax.
Day 11: Varanasi- Delhi
After having breakfast at the hotel we visit Sarnath and the bodh gaya tree where Gautam Buddha preached his first sermon, the archaeological museum, the Dhamek stupa and the Dharmarajika stupa where a large number of Buddhists offer prayers. Later in the day we would leave for the airport to take the flight to Delhi.
Day 12: Delhi
The tour comes to an end as the representatives guide you to take your flight back home from Delhi.
