Destinations Covered: Mumbai - Udaipur - Jaipur - Agra - Khajuraho - Varanasi - Kathmandu – Delhi.
Day 01: Mumbai
Before noon you would meet the representative of Indian Classical Tour. He would do the necessary work regarding the check-in and brief you on the travel plans. After lunch we would take you for the city tour. The places we would visit include the Gateway of India, the Mani Bhavan – Mahatma Gandhi’s residence in Mumbai, Queen Necklace – or Marine Drive the wide stretch of road from Nariman Point to Malabar Hills. The other places of interest are Hanging Gardens, Juhu Beach, Kamala Nehru Park, National Museum and Crawford Market a shopping area. We stay overnight at Mumbai.
Day 02: Mumbai- Udaipur
After breakfast we leave for Udaipur by air. After check-in and lunch at Udaipur, one can move around the city of palaces . One can walk and visit the local restaurants for an authentic Rajasthani dinner (optional), do a bit of shopping The overnight stay is at the hotel of Udaipur.
Day 03: Udaipur
Udaipur is famous for palaces and it has the richest palace museum in the whole of Rajasthan. It is famous for the miniature paintings and temples. The two famous temples are the Nagda and Eklingji temples. These temples were built during the 7th century. We would take you for a boat ride on the Lake Pichola to reach the Jagmandir Island to see the sunset, from where you can see the City palace, Lake Palace situated at the center of the Lake and the Sajjangarh fort. In the 17th century Prince Khurram took refuge on this island.
Day 04: Udaipur-Jaipur
After an overnight stay at Udaipur, we leave for Jaipur in the morning. After the check –in, we go for sightseeing. Explore the Pink City which is surrounded by the Aravali Hills. This city was named after the Rajput king Jai Singh II. He had moved his capital to this place in the year 1727. It was Prince Albert who called Jaipur the Pink City in the year 1853. The reason is the forts and palaces here are built using red sandstone giving the city a pinkish appearance. You would also be visiting the Palace of Winds or the Hawa Mahal, the open Astronomical Observatory or the Jantar Mantar built in 1727 AD to see the various astronomical instruments used in those days. In the evening you can shop around at the bazaars. Visit to the Amber Fort is exciting as the highlight of the trip is the elephant ride. Jaipur is famous for textile block printing, carpet weaving, and blue pottery. We would also visit the special areas which Raja Jai Singh II had designed for the Bandhanas, the Cheepas and the Meenakari Workers. We stay in Jaipur for a night.
Day 05: Jaipur- Agra
After an early breakfast we leave for Agra and visit Fatehpur Sikri on the way. The Fort here was built by Akbar the Mughal king for his wife Jodhabai. Reach Agra by night and check in at the hotel.
Day 06: Agra
Have an early breakfast and visit the world famous Taj Mahal. This monument was built by emperor Shahjahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is noted for its design, balance and the symmetry. Another place worth visiting is the Agra fort where Shahjahan was imprisoned by his own son Aurangzeb. The other places to visit are Itmad ud Daulah and the tomb of Akbar- Sikandara.
Day 07: Agra- Khajuraho
We leave for Khajuraho early in the morning. On the way to Khajuraho we would be visiting the palace of the Bundela kings and also the twin cities of the medieval period – Datia and Orchha. This city has several temples and palaces built in the 16th and the17th centuries. The palaces that would be visited would be Jahagiri Mahal and Raja Mahal. Post lunch we proceed towards Khajuraho.
Day 08: Khajuraho – Varanasi
After a good night’s sleep in Khajuraho, we visit the famous Khajuraho temples built during the 9th and the 11th centuries. They were built by the powerful Chandela kings. Of the 85 temples built by them only 20 temples are intact today. From Khajuraho we would travel to Varanasi
Day 09: Varanasi- Kathmandu
Early morning around 0500hrs one swould be taken to the banks of the Holy River Ganges. Here we board the boat to watch the morning ablutions of the Hindus. The boat rides starts from Dasashwamedh Ghat and ends in Manikarnika Ghat. It is believed that a dip in Ganges would wash ones sins. After the boat ride we would visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Gyanyyapi Kund and also the mosque attached to it. After a quick breakfast we would visit the sacred city of the Buddhist known as Sarnath. It’s museum houses the artifacts dating back to 3rd century B.C. The visit to one of the oldest and largest universities in the world – Benares Hindu University is worth a visit before catching a flight to Kathmandu.
Day 10: Katmandu
Katmandu is the capital of Nepal. After checking in at the hotel, you would be taken for an excursion to Patan and Bhaktapur. Patan is a 15 minutes drive from Kathmandu. It has many temples that are considered as an architectural center point. Bhaktapur as the name suggests is known as the “City of Devotees”. This lies 13 Kms east of Kathmandu. This is a beautiful town which is the home of medieval arts and architecture. The shape of this town is that of a conch. The traditional industries are pottery and weaving.
Day 11: Kathmandu
Today we spend the entire day visiting various temples and other sightseeing places in and around Katmandu. Some of the temples that we would be visiting include Hanuman Dhoka, Kastha Mandap, Pasupathinath temple, Dakshin Kali, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhinath Stupa and so on. We would also be visiting various palaces here.
Day 12: Kathmandu- Delhi
We leave for Delhi, the capital of India. After checking in, a city tour has been scheduled. The places to visit include- 16th century monument- Tomb of Humayun and the India Gate a war memorial. Apart from that we would also visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan or residence of the President of India, Parliament house the national legislature. We would also visit the imposing Red Fort or Lal Quila and Jama Masjid – the largest Mosque in the country . Another important aspect of the tour of the National Capital is the visit to Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana - the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru respectively. One will also visit the prominent and the legendary bazaar of old Delhi –the Chandini Chowk. At night we retire to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 13: Delhi
Today we take your leave and our representative would see you off on your onward journey.
