Destinations Covered: Delhi, Leh, Uleytokpo, Lamayuru, Alchi, Uleytokpo, Leh, Khardung, Sumoor, Nubra, Leh, Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Leh, Delhi.
Day 01: Delhi Arrival
When travelers arrive on the airport, the company representative will receive them. Guests will then drive to their hotel with a chauffeur driven car.
Day02: Delhi
Post breakfast, the second day of the tour is a day long sightseeing tour of the city of Delhi –The Capital of India .. The first visit in the sightseeing tour includes the visit to the Qutub Minar, which is the world’s first of its kind minaret of stone that still stands tall without any support. The Humayun’s Tomb is another attraction that is considered the first piece of Mughal architecture.
Then guests visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the India Gate which was built in early 20th century. Travelers then visit the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid which is the largest mosque in India. Visitors then take the rickshaw ride through the busy city which is the best way to know the city. Riding in the rickshaw through Chandni Chowk which exists from the Mogul times is a really wonderful experience. Guests then are taken by car from Raj Ghat to Birla Mandir- a busy Hindu Temple.
Day 03: Delhi, Leh (By Air)
Early in the morning, guests board the flight that takes them to Ladakh and it is the most fascinating way to watch the Himalayas. Leh is the capital city of Ladakh and its Tibetan Buddhist culture, the tranquility, and the imposing Himalayan range makes it the most sought after place. The gompas is what attracts Buddhists of the world to this beautiful place . Leh is paradise for hikers with its numerous hiking trails and the country’s best hiking trails are found here. Upon arrival in Leh, guests check in at the hotel and relax for the day because getting used to an altitude of 3300 meters is important. After rest, visitors get to visit the Shankar Monastery and the Shanti Stupa that offers stunning views of the surroundings.
Day 04: Leh
Post breakfast, visitors leave for a visit to the Stok Palace Museum where the Queen of Ladakh still lives. The sight of the Barron Mountains is more attractive than the palace. On way back to the hotel, visitors visit the SOS Tibetan Refugee Camp. The afternoon is for visiting the Leh Fort that offers a commanding view of the surroundings.
Day 05: Leh, Uleytokpo
Post breakfast visitors start for Uleytokpo where after a 30 minute trek, guests visit the Rizong monastery which is the school for young lamas to learn Buddhism.
Day 06: Uleytokpo, Lamayuru, Alchi, Uleytokpo
After the morning, visitors start for the Moonland Tour while on their way to Lamayuru. It is another oldest monastery and visitors travel by a long winding road and reach on top of the mountain. Visitors will find the same formation here as it is found on the moon. After visiting Lamayuru, guests start back to Uleytokpo and en route also visit the Alchi Monastery. This monastery feature mural paintings from the 11th century and is considered the oldest monastery of Ladakh.
Day 07: Uleytokpo, Leh
In the morning visitors start for Leh and en route visit the monasteries at Likir, Spituk, and Phyang. Visitors check in at the Leh hotel in the afternoon and take rest.
Day 08: Leh, Khardung, Sumoor
Post breakfast, travelers start for Nubra traveling from Khardung La the world’s highest road at a height of 5800 meters. Nubra is near the Siachen glacier a place of strategic importance for India and Pakistan. Nubra recently was opened for tourism and offers some stunning natural landscapes. At Nubra one can experience desert, mountain and water simultaneously. Guests on arrival in Nubra check in at the accommodation in Sumoor and post lunch there is a visit the natural springs of hot water at Panamik.
Day 09: Nubra
On the ninth day of the tour, there is an excursion to the Himalayas in which visits to the monasteries such as Diskit and Hundar are included. The Diskit monastery is Dalai Lama’s seat and there is also a private palace. Though the monastery at Hundar is small it is famous for its high order among the many followers of Buddhism. On the way back, visitors can enjoy camel ride and a camel race on the arid desert of the region.
Day 10: Nubra, Leh, Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Leh
Post breakfast, visitors start for Leh and post lunch, there is an excursion to Shey which is the summer palace of the royalty. A little drive further takes the visitors to Thiksey where visitors can watch the biggest statue of Buddha. Next on in the tour is the visit to Ladakh’s richest monastery called Hemis. This monastery has rare texts and artifacts that are related to Buddhism. The Hemis festival is organized in June-July in this monastery. The overnight stay is in the hotel.
Day 11: Leh, Delhi (By Air)
Post breakfast it is time for travelers to leave the land of Lamas and exquisite natural beauty. Visitors board the flight bound for Delhi and upon arrival in Delhi visitors can shop for some souvenirs in the market. A farewell dinner ends the tour and visitors are transferred to the airport for their flights home taking sweet memories of the tour of Ladakh.
