Day 01: Travel to Raipur – Kawardha
You will be met at Raipur by our representative. Then we will drive 120 kilometers north in a double A/C luxury vehicle to the former Princely State of Kawardha. You will be transferred to your Palace suite and then have lunch in the State Dining Room. In the afternoon, take a tour to Palace Kawardha and nearby cultural sites, along with the Bhoramdeo temple complex. After returning to the palace at sunset, have a welcome drink and meet the royal family while being entertained with traditional Chhattisgarhi dance and then have dinner.
Day 02: Travel to Kawardha
After having your breakfast, a palace guide will take you on a tour for an introduction to the secrets of Kawardha’s tribal and natural world. Meet the gentle and friendly Baiga people who are the principal indigenous forest tribe. You can enjoy picnic lunch with them. In the evening return to Palace Kawardha and relish a royal family dinner.
Day 03: Kawardha – Raipur – Kanker
In the morning, we will take a 2-hour drive to Raipur and have lunch in a city restaurant. We may have some time to visit Raipur’s Mahant Ghasidas Museum before leaving for the former princely State of Kanker. After reaching Kanker Palace, you will be greeted by the Maharaja’s family and will be shown to your suite. Family members will explain to you folklore and tradition of the state. You will be entertained by traditional music and dance of the region.
Day 04: Kanker – Kondagaon – Narayanpur – Kanker
After having a filling Indian or English breakfast at the Palace, we can start off our Bastar tribal experience. You can climb the forested Keshkal Ghat. At North Bastar, visit the colorful weekly market where you can meet the colorful locals. Learn about Bastar’s finest handicrafts while visiting Kondagaon and Narayanpur. There will be a picnic lunch in the deep green sal forests. We then return to Kanker.
Day 05: Kanker – Jagdalpur
After breakfast, travel to Jagdalpur which is Bastar’s main town and former capital and is located three hours away. You can check into a hotel and have a lunch. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the historical Jagdalpur and the Anthropological Museum and a visit to the Chitrakote waterfall on the Indravati River at sunset. Visit the tribes of Jagdalpur like Bison-Horn Maria tribe who are known for their ceremonial dancing. Have a barbecued dinner under the stars in authentic Bastar style while being entertained by the tribal people. We then return to the hotel.
Day 06: Kanker – Kanger Valley National Park – Jagdalpur
After having an early breakfast, visit the enchanting Tirathgarh waterfall, the lush forests of the Kanger Valley National Park, and the magical stalactite and stalagmite caves. You can explore some of the unique handicrafts of Jagdalpur before dinner.
Day 07: Jagdalpur – Raipur
After breakfast, visit the vibrant markets of Jagdalpur before returning to Raipur. We stop by at Kanker and have a farewell late lunch with the Maharaja’s family. After a 2-hour journey back to Raipur, stay at the hotel and relax.
Day 08: Departure
After a sound sleep and a light breakfast, you will be chauffeured to Raipur Airport for your return flight.
